About ASM International

_

ASM International is Everything Material®. ASM International is a society of materials engineering professionals, scientists, researchers and students; headquartered in Ohio-USA with a membership of over 40,000, spread over 20 countries through over 200 professional chapters.

The primary mission and goal of the society is to promote materials technology and processes and to disseminate technical information; to foster the understanding and application, design, research and use of all engineering materials, and their social implications; to benefit members, their organizations and the society at large. Through a network of members worldwide, ASM provides authoritative information and knowledge on materials and processes, from the structural to the nanoscale.

About ASM India

_

ASM International – India Chapter, established in 1979 by Dr. H.M. Mehta and a group of dedicated volunteers, is one of the most active chapters of ASM International. It promotes knowledge sharing in materials and processes through technical courses on topics like metallurgy, failure analysis, heat treatment, welding, and more. Since 1990, it has also been organizing the biennial Heat Treat Show, a signature event for the heat treatment industry.

The chapter continues to host conferences, workshops, and exhibitions on the latest developments in material processing and engineering.

ASM Materials Park

_

The 45-acre campus known as Materials Park has been home to the headquarters of ASM International (formerly known as the American Society for Metals) for the past 52 years. Originally completed in 1959, the ASM International headquarters building, 20 miles east of Cleveland in Novelty, Ohio, is the result of the vision of four men, William Hunt Eisenman, one of ASM’s founders and its National Secretary and first Managing Director, Cleveland modern architect John Terence Kelly, architect and engineer Thomas C. Howard of Synergetics Inc., and renowned futurist R. Buckminster Fuller.

With an open latticework geodesic dome arching over a semi-circular office building, ASM International World Headquarters at Materials Park symbolizes humanity’s technological mastery of materials. Hailed 50 years ago for its futuristic design, Materials Park is renowned today for its timelessness.

In 2009, Materials Park was named to the National Register of Historic Places, and an exciting renovation was completed in July 2011.
